Finally some pictures.
Everyone is finally home from the hospital and we've finally got everyone's pictures uploaded to the camera.
When papa and mama got to the hospital at 10pm, mama had been having contractions for about 6 hours and she was already5 cm dilated. She got an epidural at 1:30 am and as you can see, she was pretty happy about it.
Because mama was sick all day, she was pretty severely dehydrated. Plus when she got her epidural, her blood pressure fell a lot. So to remedy both of these things, she ended up getting 5 liters of IV fluid pumped in. And 5 liters of room temperature liquid really makes a person cold. At this point, the nurse had heated up blankets and piled about 8 on top of her. Eventually mama warmed up again.
And just in time. After the epidural, mama's contractions stopped. Right when they were going to give her pitocin, they started up again and mama went from 6 cm to 10 cm dilated in 3 contractions. Thank God she had the epidural because that would have really hurt. Just 10 short minutes of pushing later, baby June was born. Because the whole thing happened so fast, our Junebug got kind of banged up. Most notable is the big bruise that had already formed as soon as she was born. Maybe that's why she was screaming before she got all the way out.
Papa looks very proud of himself because he had been telling mama all along that he was getting a little girl.
Our wonderful Dr. Bull checked out June, although doctor bull admitted she didn't do much. Everything went so fast, she didn't even have time to put on a gown and gloves before June entered the world. Our resident, Dr. Espinoza, was actually delivering 3 babies at once and came into our room just in time to catch June.
Of course June is sleeping a lot but mostly feeding during the night. Papa took a shift cuddling her when she wasn't hungry.
