Henry and June Turner: Ohio Trip- Part 1- Ney- Mama.

So here's the complete recap of our week long trip to Ohio.

We packed up and Henry made sure we didn't forget our little sister. So he climbed in bed with her for a cuddle. June looked for an escape.

Our drive down to Ohio was great. We drove straight through Chicago and didn't hit any traffic. We stopped for a break when we got into Indiana. This was the real test. Driving with two kids is easy because they can't move. The test is getting two kids into a truck stop, feeding the big one while nursing the little one, then getting everyone into the bathroom for diaper changes and handwashing. Especially when someone spots a gumball machine and NEEDS one now. Luckily, I was able to use this to my advantage, and promised Henry that if he ate a good lunch and sat in his chair and then helped me change everyone's diaper, then he could have a gumball. Lunch went smoothly, so we went out to the gumball machine and lucky us- it was a magic gumball machine. the magic was that you didn't know how many gumballs it would give you- 1 to 10! We got 5! Luckily, Henry did not know they were candy. I told him they were special balls for counting and then you got to count them into the special garbage can! Luckily he fell for it. There was one more piece of magic too- his hands were wet, so they magically turned his hands bright blue. Even after we washed them. Henry was very pleased with all of this. Probably the best quarter I ever spent. Please no one tell him that gumballs are actually candy.

We made the trip to Ney in 7 hours. Pretty good for a trip that would take 5.5 hours if you didn't stop and hit no traffic. June slept the whole way (except to wake up and eat at the rest stop) and Henry never slept a minute. But he did watch Car Movie and read books quietly the whole time with no crying.

Once we got to Ney, the guests started arriving. Miss Megan, my best friend from high school stopped by.

Uncle Rick and Aunt Mary chatted with Henry about baseball. They brought him his own leather mitt and tried to lure him to the dark side (the Cleveland Indians), but Henry stayed loyal to the Redlegs.
