Our State Fair is a great State Fair.
Mom was the only one that wanted to get close to me.
Mom found her own happiness- Krautland. Here she is holding her deep fried cheese curds.
All this fair stuff wears a guy out. I took a nap while mom and dad toured the merchant building. It was like 1000 infomercials live.
After I woke up, Papa took me on the big slide. You can see us climbing the stairs on the left. We're heading up the crowd. Dad's in a red hat.
I really liked the big slide. One more time dad!
They even had a parade. Here you can see a cream puff and some sort of superhero.
And here's a giant pickle.
Then there was a whole fleet of Minis. It really made us miss Aunt Jill. (Get it? She's a mini Cooper too!!!)
The Budweiser Clydesdale horses were there too, pulling a wagon full of beer.
Finally, the best part of every state fair is the Cub Cadet exhibit. I chose the big one.
Grandpa will you buy this for me?
To recap, here are a couple things that we noticed were different from any fair we've been to before:
1. 25 cent glasses of flavored milk. You could get chocolate, root beer, strawberry, cherry vanilla, or mocha- for only a quarter. We liked the idea- but in the 90 degree weather, it made our bellies hurt.
2. For some reason, baked potatoes are a big hit at the fair.
3. Whereas the Ohio State fair offered bottomless "mocktails," Wisconsin just sells liquor and beer at every booth. Mom wanted the bottomless margarita, but Dad got her a deep-fried Snickers (on a stick of course) instead.
4. There's a surprising lack of very many 4-H related exhibits.
5. And our favorite difference- they were handing out free sausage. Yum. You can imagine the belly aches we had when we left.

2 Comments:
You should come to the Indiana state fair. It has BIG differences too. My least favorite, as you can imagine, they deep fry everything! ie Pepsi, Oreos There are just some things you shouldn't mess with...
Hank-
Love the pics!
