Happy Groundhog's Day!

While the rest of the world looked to Pennsylvania for the our extended winter weather forecast, up here in Wisconsin, we didn't have to look past our own backyards. Sun Prairie, the self proclaimed Groundhog Capital of the World, hosts their own groundhog's day events.

And while that lousy Phil from Punxsutawny predicted 6 more weeks of winter, our own Jimmy predicted an early spring. Funny that NOT seeing your shadow because its overcast and snowing again means that spring is coming early. Then again, after the January we've had, when the average temperature has not been above 0 degrees, we'll call just about anything an early spring. Heck, it's already snowed about 3 inches today, but it's also 30 degrees out, so most Wisconsiners aren't even wearing coats anymore.

Seriously though, who's word would you trust more?

On a side note, one more thing we love about Wisconsin is how ever town proclaims itself as the official capital of something (or even multiple things). Sun Prairie has groundhogs in the winter and sweet corn in the summer. In just the hour radius around Madison, we've got the official capitals of circuses, cheese, and mustard. I think Fond du Lac laid their claim on Fondue last year too. You've got to love a state that takes ownership of everything in the world. Our friend Scott will tell you that just about every famous person in the world was either born in Wisconsin or at least had the sense to spend their formative years in Wisconsin. Heck, most people are even sure that Jesus was born here.
