More goodbyes,
Now that we're settled in Marion Ohio for a few days, we can look back on the eventful week that was. We finished packing on Wednesday and the movers came on Thursday. That was an adventure, if only the world's slowest one. To say that things move slow in the South is the understatement of the century in mama's book. The guys that came to move our stuff were very nice and friendly South Carolinians, but 2 of the 3 were older than dirt and we were pretty sure that they would drop over from a massive coronary at any moment. This led to the world's longest loading of boxes. Our contact with the moving company assured us that it wold take 5-6 hours to pack our stuff up. Mama assumed that this would leave plenty of time to clean the house and then make it to supper at the Schwoch's. Wrong. Mama left for supper with the Schwochs, and returned to see the movers off after 12 hours of packing. She's now placing bets on whether or not our things will actually make it to North Carolina. (The movers were also the drivers.) Either way, she's interested in seeing what will be broken as the packers had a great time banging up our walls and breaking our new light fixture that we installed over the table. This lent considerable stress to mama as we were scheduled to close on the house the next morning and it still wasn't cleaned. The whole turner family stayed up until after 11:30 that night getting the house ready. Luckily the new owners of our little house are very understanding and are willing to work with us to file a claim to have everything fixed.
When we did finally make it to our little party to say goodbye to some friends, Reilly was sad to see his buddy Henry go.
Henry joined June in the bassinet for a minute. The move is really weighing on Henry and he likes to be close to June all of the time.
Not everything is going bad for Henry though. He did get to pick out a new truck in honor of the move. I guess this tanker truck is the closest thing he could find to a semi at the store.
As we said earlier, Reilly's about to get a big dose of babies. His mama is 37 weeks pregnant with twins. We are delighted, yet sad, that she's still growing those babies. The doctors told her not to expect to make it past 30 weeks, so it's great news she's still going strong, but we really were hoping to give them a squeeze before we left. We had to settle for a squeeze to her belly instead.
On Friday, we said goodbye to Miss Jenny, Mister Craig, Ariel and Isaac. Ariel held June for a very long time and wrote us a very nice letter to say goodbye.
Henry and Isaac got each other worked up and spent 30 minutes running the halls screaming. We did try to get a picture of the 3 kids but they were all so wound up and there are none with all 3 faces showing.
We wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who helped out during our move, whether it was providing us with a meal, a drink (thanks for teaching me how to make an Old Fashioned, Kyle), and for just making sure we had a chance to say goodbye. We especially appreciate our great friends, the Gielows, who did everything from baking us cookies, to providing a place for naps, to loaning us brooms, mops and vacuums because ours were all packed up on a truck bound for who knows where. Also, a big thank you goes out to the Pisapias for loaning us the house so that we didn't have to sleep on the floor.
